Reclaim Your Space

Cabinets are usually the biggest line in a kitchen remodel, which makes this one of the higher-stakes calls in the whole project. Good news: it breaks down into five decisions, not a hundred. We’ll walk you through each one (budget, material, style, sizing, and room type) so you can pick your RTA cabinets feeling sure, not guessing.

Budget

Start with a real number. RTA cabinets run well under what traditional retailers charge for comparable construction, but the cabinets aren’t the only cost, so plan for the rest too: countertops, install labor (if you’re not doing it yourself), the +$35-per-cabinet pre-assembly fee if you go that route, hardware (knobs and pulls), and the small stuff like fillers, trim, and toe kicks.

Rule of thumb: A standard 10'x10' kitchen takes roughly 20-30 cabinets. At our pricing, a full set of solid wood RTA cabinets that size can start well below the big-box equivalent.

Material & Construction

The door is the part of a cabinet you actually look at, so it drives the whole room’s feel. Across every style we stock, the build is the same: a five-piece solid wood frame around an MDF center panel, with consistent quality whichever look you pick.

What changes from style to style is the frame profile (the stiles and rails) and how the center panel’s treated.

Room Type

Different rooms have different requirements. A kitchen remodel typically involves base cabinets, wall cabinets, and potentially tall pantry or utility cabinets.

A bathroom renovation focuses on vanity base cabinets (which are shallower at  inches deep to accommodate smaller spaces) and may include wall-mounted medicine cabinets or linen storage. A laundry room or mudroom might use a combination of wall and base cabinets for utility storage. Regardless of the room, cabinets.com offers the full range of cabinet types needed to complete your project.
