Care and Maintenance

Protecting Your Investment

Your cabinets.com cabinets are built with premium materials — solid wood face frames, plywood boxes, and a durable UV-coated interior finish — designed to withstand the demands of daily use. With proper care, your cabinetry will maintain its beauty and structural integrity for many years. The following guidelines apply to all cabinets.com products, with specific recommendations for different finish types

General Care Instructions (All Finishes)

The routine’s simple, no special products needed.

  • Wipe up spills and splashes fairly quickly with a soft, damp cloth.

  • For a regular clean, use warm water with a little gentle dish soap.

  • Dry with a clean microfiber cloth so you don’t leave water spots.

Products and Practices to Avoid

  • Abrasive and/or powdered cleaners, including scouring pads/steel wool

  • Skip silicone polishes and wax; they build up and dull the finish over time.

  • Never put a steam cleaner near your cabinets.

  • No bleach, ammonia, acetone, or solvent-based cleaners.

Environmental Recommendations

Kitchens and baths get humid, and humidity is hard on wood. Run the exhaust fan when you cook or shower. Don’t tuck cabinets right above a toaster or coffee maker without some clearance. And if your area swings between damp and dry with the seasons, a humidifier or dehumidifier helps keep things stable.

Care by Finish Type

Painted
Examples
Aspen White, Charleston White, Slim Dove White, Double Dove White
Special Considerations
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can yellow white paint over time. Clean gently to avoid micro-scratching the surface.
Painted (Dark / Color)
Examples
Iron Black, Aspen Charcoal, Aston Green, Slim Aston Green, Smoky Ash, Double Smoky Gray
Special Considerations
Dark finishes show fingerprints and dust more. Wipe down often with a soft, dry cloth, and keep excess moisture away from seams and joints.
Stained / Natural Wood
Examples
Treasure Chest, Slim White Oak
Special Considerations
Wood expands and contracts with humidity, so keep indoor humidity between 35% and 50% to minimize movement. Minor grain and color variation between pieces is normal, not a defect

Hardware Maintenance

The soft-close hinges and glides are basically maintenance-free. If one starts feeling stiff or noisy, a dab of silicone-based lubricant (lubricant, not polish) on the moving parts sorts it out. And the 6-way hinges adjust anytime with a Phillips screwdriver if a door drifts out of line.
